
A guitarist of 18 years, Zach has accumulated extensive experience playing guitar, bass, and drums for studio dates, live performances, and remote recording in all styles.
He has performed at venues such as Roughtrade NYC, iHeartRadio, The Foundry at The Fillmore Philadelphia, Symphony Space, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Mercury Lounge, Baby’s All Right, The Knitting Factory, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Bowery Electric, and Miller Theatre at Columbia University.
Zach has studied privately since 2003 with Paul Bollenback (Joey DeFrancesco), Dave Stryker (Stanley Turrentine), Stephane Wrembel (Midnight in Paris), Billy Test (WDR Big Band), and Tom Harney.
He graduated from Columbia University in 2017 with a degree in music and psychology. He is an alum of the Louis Armstrong Performance Program; former Director of Operations and Engineering at WKCR-FM radio; and co-founder of Columbia University’s first student-run recording studio, CU Records.
After graduating Zach became a fixture in the New York music scene, performing and touring with bands such as Drug Bug and Quinn Devlin & The Bridge Street Kings and pop artists BABY YORS, Anna Shoemaker, and MICKEY.
Zach also composes music for film, television, and advertisements. Most recently, he collaborated with LA-based composer Sara Barone on the score of the award-winning short film On The Clock (2018), which was screened at the Diversity in Cannes and Creative Mind Group showcases at Cannes Film Festival. His playing can also be heard on the Breitling Spotlight Squad Campaign anthem “Walls”, which anchored an ad campaign that has amassed over 1,000,000 views across platforms.
Currently, Zach focuses on remote recording, composition, songwriting, production, and mixing. He is available to render these services upon request.
His latest song “On the 7th Hour” (songwriting, guitar performance, production, engineering, mixing) is a collaboration with his father, Ray. It was released on February 26, 2021 under the name C.R. & Owltown.
